Every day, I am privileged to see how music can empower and heal. I am looking forward to a month of sharing my thoughts about music and healing as Scales to Scalpels takes wing.
Today, I attended a performance of Fiddler on the Roof at a nearby public high school. I had been invited by two of my little patients (age 6 and 10), who had children's parts in the play. One of them is unable to walk due to cerebral palsy, but his spirit shone through as he belted out the songs and moved in time to the music, along with his other cast members. I will never forget the look of freedom and exhilaration on his courageous face.
